THE PARROT

I painted this after seeing a parrot at the Burrell Collection and wondering how little you can show while still capturing character.

Inspired by the structure and balance of Mondrian, I broke the form down into blocks of colour so that from a distance it feels minimal and controlled.

Up close, the texture shifts and the paint gives each section the feel of layered feathers.
